Sustainability at Landmark Group:
Nurturing People and Planet

At Landmark Group, we've embarked on a remarkable journey towards holistic sustainability. This journey is rooted in two fundamental principles: "People" and "Planet" and our commitment to becoming a climate-positive circular business across our entire value chain.

Our sustainability journey aims to make Landmark Group Circular & Climate Positive by driving Innovation, Digitisation & Cross Functional Ecosystem Collaboration. This vision encompasses creating sustainable products, more efficient operations, and offering our customers planet-friendly experiences.

SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS

Our Responsible Sourcing Program continually evolves to ensure robust governance and oversight across our value chain. We aim to enable & assist our supplier network to evolve in becoming ESG compliant - transforming their operations across raw material sourcing, packaging, manufacturing & conversion processes, to shipping.

Better Cotton Initiative (BCI)

Our brand, Splash, is proud to be the first from the Middle East to join the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), the world's most extensive cotton sustainability program. Much of Splash's cotton is sustainably sourced, including organic cotton and Better Cotton. Our brands, including Babyshop, Max, Home Centre, Home Box and Shoemart, also offer sustainable product lines, reflecting our commitment to reducing our environmental impact.

Project SU.RE and Sustainable Raw Materials

As signatories of Project SU.RE, an initiative of the Indian apparel industry, is committed to sourcing a significant portion of our consumption using sustainable raw materials and processes.

SUSTAINABLE OPERATIONS

Landmark Group recognises that we must aim for mitigation of environmental impact by improving efficiency across our own operations in transportation and logistics. We will also continue to engage with our suppliers and partners to drive efficiencies across the value chain.

Eco-Efficiency Across Locations

We've implemented "Clever Energy Management" in over 400 sites, including stores, offices, and warehouses across the region. This technology-driven approach has resulted in savings equivalent to powering 12,500 homes for one year. We're committed to achieving 100% coverage and further optimizing the footprint of our stores.

Renewable Energy Leadership

According to UAE guidelines, Landmark Group is pushing the boundaries of sustainability with a solar energy capacity of 8.3 megawatts. We've added an extra 2.1 MWp of solar rooftop and carport systems across four prominent sites in the UAE, representing 14% of our UAE Scope 1 and 2 needs. Our agile approach allows us to scale this up to 30% as regulations evolve quickly.

Waste Reduction and Recycling

We're reducing waste across various fronts, from efficient inventory management and portion control to sustainable ingredients. Our commitment to recycling is evident through initiatives like the e-waste recycling campaign by Dubai Municipality in the UAE, and our efforts to extend packaging recycling practices to all our markets.

Foundations and Partnerships

Landmark Group believes in creating an ecosystem of positive impact by aligning with partners to support our journey. We have built a strong foundation of governance, financing, measurement, and target-setting to be mindful of our progress. We have partnered with The Science-based Targets Initiative (SBTi) which is a collaborative effort between global prominent organisations, including the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF). We have also joined the UAE Alliance for Climate Action (UACA), as an Alliance Achiever, in line with the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative.

Green Financing

Landmark Group has taken a significant stride towards a more sustainable future by securing green financing from several of its banking partners. It is the first private sector company to sign a bilateral sustainability linked loan and pledged to move towards green finance products wherever possible. Our Green Financing is tied to key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sustainability. Landmark Group has committed that the benefits from any sustainable financing will be deployed towards further sustainable initiatives.

Net Zero Commitments

We firmly believe, "You can't manage what you can't measure." We have drafted a roadmap to achieve net zero scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2040-2050 across carbon, waste, water, and energy across most of our business. In our continued efforts to become net zero, we have committed to setting science-based targets.

Join us on our sustainability journey as we make a difference for both people and the planet, one step at a time. Together, we can create a more sustainable and brighter future for all.
